Join us for an engaging session designed to foster collaborative dialogue and idea-sharing among educators passionate about enhancing teaching practices. Our roundtable discussions provide a dynamic forum where small groups delve into significant topics and practical issues facing educators today.

Each roundtable session will offer Multiple options per room, with one topic per table. Each topic will be shared and discussed 3 times during the hour in 20-minute increments. After each 20-minute time block, attendees are encouraged to move to another table to learn about a new topic.

Roundtable Topics:
  1. GLSEN Arkansas: Creating Safer Classrooms: This session you will learn about the 4 main supports that GLSEN offers: 1) Activating supportive educators, who are crucial to creating LGBTQ-inclusive classroom environments. 2) Advocating for inclusive & affirming curriculum, which not only offers support to LGBTQ students but raises the awareness of all students 3) Passing and implementing policies to ensure that LGBTQ students can learn and thrive in safe, inclusive, accepting schools. 4) Supporting student-led clubs and GSAs, because student leaders are integral to creating community and pushing for change
  2.  Project Lead the Way Gateway Grant - Opportunities for Middle Schools: Engage your 7th and 8th grade students in an innovative STEM curriculum that supports problem solving skills and project based learning. PLTW Gateway Courses offer exemplary career and industry partner connections for creative minds. Learn about the funding provided by the Walton Family Foundation through the Arkansas Department of Education.
  3. Collaborating with Classroom Teachers to Improve Push-In Support: Providing quality supplemental instruction to struggling students can be challenging for push-in support teachers. Forming strong working relationships with the classroom teachers in whose classrooms you service students can be of great benefit to these students.  In this session, push-in support providers and classroom teachers can share and discuss ideas and techniques on how to become effective working partners.
  4. The Big Rocks of PBL: This session dives into the difference between doing projects and project-based learning with a focus on the 7 "big rocks". Analyze entry documents that connect power standards to products, explore effective strategies for integrating soft skills into your classroom, and see what it looks like for education to be truly student-led. Digital & Print Handouts Provided.
Participants will have the opportunity to exchange innovative ideas, share lesson plans, discuss ongoing research, and seek valuable feedback from peers in a supportive and collaborative atmosphere. Whether you're seeking inspiration, looking to refine your teaching methods, or eager to contribute to the collective knowledge of the educational community, this session promises insightful conversations and meaningful connections.
